Lee's team played baseball tonight. They were going to have to forfeit because they only had 8 players so I became the latest baseball player in Finland. I caught a ball hit into Right Field. I hit a foul that was caught. Then I struck out and missed a pop fly that went into the sun and fell short of me. Needless to say maybe, Lee's team lost. It has been fun. We also went to the beach today, and rode all around Helsinki. I am very tired. -KJH Tuesday, July 29, 2003
I will try. I will be in at 8:50 according to the schedule and of course I will call you if I do not get on. So just plan on meeting me at baggage claim or where the international folks come out. If all else fails I wil call you if i can or page you. See you tomorrow. -KJH Sunday, July 27, 2003
Keith, if it's not too late to get a few things, I'd like: Reese's Peanut butter cups and Pieces Maple Syrup (Real maple if you can get it) Some cheesecake mix. (Jello makes one) Is the cannned pumpkin out in the stores? (If it's too heavy then don't sweat it). If not, we won't die. I'll pick you up when your plane gets in. I don't need to wait until lunch. Looking forward to seeing you. Saturday, July 26, 2003
It's shorts weather now, but you never know for sure. Supposedly it will continue hot for the next 10 days. I'm hoping so. I get into Finland on Wednesday at 8:50 AM. Lee, what time do you think you can escort me to your Apartment? During lunch? Anyway, that's the plan. -KJH I always have it. The only thing I don'y have is a pair a pants besides my slacks. Is it too cold for shorts ever? -KJH Friday, July 25, 2003
Be sure to remember your swim suit. Hopefully the weather stays good and the poisonous algae stays away. Wednesday, July 23, 2003
The line with 5 days off was my 2nd choice. There were others that would have given me 7 days off, but only by dropping a trip which isn't a garauntee. Anyway, I bought a ticket on Finnair to come back in case I can't jumpseat, we shall see. -KJH I have the first 5 days of August off. That means I have 8 days. Now I will have to figure out which flight I will take to get there. It should be fun. -KJH Tuesday, July 22, 2003

On the 21st I will know. There were about 7 lines with the time definately off, and about 4 more with an easy trade to get the time off. We shall see. -KJH When did you see the ride, Mom? Keith, any clue if you'll get the time off? We are in Sipoo of the weekend. we went to Porvoo yesterday and I biked here from there. Tomorrow I will bike from here to home. I'm looking forward to it. That sounds like a nice vacation. There has been more good news at Trans States. We are expanding our Jet service for American. It sounds like 5 Jets right away and 10 more options. That brings our potential Jet growth up to about 40 new jets. Considering we only have 22 right now, that is great news. If anybody is really bored, or really curious here is a link to the latest memo from Trans States Management: THIS IS THE LINK. The user name is ATRalmost, and password is 535353. -KJH It's just you, Keith. On Saturday we went to Linnanmäki. Matilda, of course, had a grat time and so did Owen. Kids under 100cm get to ride free on the rides (That allow kids under 100cm) with a paying adult. I must be getting old, but those rides turn my stomach more now than before. The best ride was the "Space Shot" which was a 200 or 300 foot pole which twelve people sat around on these seats and are then shot up into the air and fall down again. It was fun. I'm on vacation now and the weather is finally warm warm warm. We aren't doing much, just riding bikes, going to the beach, etc... Owen loves his bike seat. He likes the beach, too, but he's a bit leary of things after his accident with an inflatible tube. He flipped over so his legs were sticking in the air and he was head down in the water. He slipped out of the ring and was trying to get his head up before I got to him. It all turned out ok (he didn't breath any water), but he's more cautious now and won't go near the ring. To correct my earlier post, the 25 jets would actually provide jobs for 200 or more pilots. They need about 4.5 crews per airplane and there are 2 people in each crew. That is good news. Apparently we are shooting for October to begin the United flying. -KJH Friday, July 11, 2003

Lee, I will know about my August Schedule on July 21st. I will bid for August on the 17th or so, and then I will have and idea of whether or not I will get the time off. Good news at Trans States. There was a memo announcing a new agreement with United. We will operate up to 25 Jets (50 seaters) out of Dulles, and O'hare. That is good. That will equal up to 100 new pilots. This is assuming we keep all of our props. But I tend to think they will not get rid of props until there are Jets to replace their flying. I don't know, it is a crazy industry. -KJH Saturday, July 05, 2003
Hello all. I am in St. Louis for the night. Funny thing about this months schedule, I forgot to bid and ended up getting the perfect line(schedule) anyway. I have 4 four day trips totalling about 90 hours of pay(which is good) and 15 days off for the month. I wish I could get this good of a line every month. I have the last three days of July off and will try to get the first week of August off if I can. If I get at least a few days off the first of August, I will go and visit Lee. Anyway, talk to everyone later. -KJH Thursday, July 03, 2003
Happy 4th of July everyone. Things are quit here. The weather finally got warmer. Matilda had lice. Owen is a daredevil. Melina is relaxing from school work for the summer. I am growing various herbs. Actually, I was surprised that I grew some mini sweet potatoes this spring. We bought a sweet potato in Virginia a year and a half ago which we didn't eat there, and so we brought it back here. In the end it sprouted, I planted some of the sprout because I liked the leaves in a small pot and now when I needed the pot for some cilantro (the leaves were dying), I was surprised (I guess I shouldn't have been) to find nine sweet potatoes ranging in size from a pea to a small plum. We had a horrible baseball game on Wednesday and I hope the rest of the year doesn't go like that. |
