I've not played Princes of Florence, but mom told me that was what all the cool Hoggards were playing these days. Instead we've contented ourselves with Carcassonne. It is fun for adults, but either random or easy enough that Matilda can win with a little help. We have the basic set (in German, but that's just the rules), I am not sure what the river tiles are, etc... I wonder what the neighbors story is, Timo. I think it's funny how people get so unreasonable about things. It's a good thing you had the horses there before he moved in. The leaves are changing here, too after a long warm summer. Keith, if the plane is automated, how much fun can it be to fly? ;) Hey All, I am in St. Louis again. My flight yesterday was great. I made it back in good time. The training is going well. I have a test on the airplane systems next Tuesday. It should be pretty easy. I will start Simulator training within 4 or 5 days after that. That will not be as easy considering my long absense from flying. I don't really think a Cessna 172 would have helped that much anyway. This airplane is fast, and highly automated. It will be a lot of fun to fly. Amanda came out last weekend and she will have to come out again this weekend, I am unable to go home. She can fly out for $20 round-trip. That is nice. It sounds as though I will be based in Richmond originally, but it should be a quick return to St. Louis. With Southwest, American and even Delta, it is easy to get to St Louis as a commuter. Lee, have you ever played Princes of Florence? It is a lot of fun. It looks as though my winning Streak will go on forever. Maybe if Timo and Amanda practice enough while I am away... Anyway, I will talk to everyone later. I am at the library and I am going to study some Airplane Systems. I think I will study Pressurization. When we went over it, Friday afternoon, my mind was elsewhere. Good-bye. -KJH Saturday, September 28, 2002
Welcome Timo. Mark and Cindy still haven't joined, but mom hasn't since she didn't have good access to the internet. (she must have thought it would take awhile, too.) But she thought it was a good idea. You post images with HTML. Click the "enter safe mode" and you will see the HTML. We had a trace of rain, but not nearly enough. Last weekend I hiked up to a swampnear Melina's mother house to see if I could find any mushrooms there. I found a few, but only one I could identify. The Jelly Antler, which is pretty, but inedible. The one I found was not as big as the pictured one, but last year I found several like that. It is too dry this year. In the swamp there were these slender long stemmed ones, but I cannot find out what they were. Instead, I've been freezing and drying apples. There are several apples trees in our apartment yard. Most of the summer apple just fell to the ground and rotted. But I'm trying to use some of the winter apples that are still left. Tuesday, September 24, 2002
Hey Keith, welcome. You need to hit the "Post & Publish" button on the upper right side of the screen or the orange "Publish" button on the lower right. (I think you need to then still push the "Post" button in the same place to finish off your post.) If you hit the "Posts" button on the upper left, you lose everything you write. How's St. Louis? How's the training going? Monday, September 23, 2002
Hi. I tried a different message but I don't think it posted. I will just say hi from St. Louis in this one. Talk to everyone soon. -KJH Sorry about the "K" in Coon, Tiina. I got confused, I'd bought my car from "Koon's Ford" and the "K" must have stuck. Hey Tiina, glad see to you made it. Let's hope the others join us soon. You can see some pictures of us taken over the past summer (and this weekend) here. Normally you can display images with your post like topaz on the left, but for some reason pictures stored at yahoo's geocities don't show up often, so you must click the link. We are all doing fine here. Matilda is now out of her cast. She broke her arm (elbow), in late July, falling backwards off our yard's sandbox. She got the cast off three days before we went to Uncle Erkki's mökki, but still couldn't swim since the two pin holes in her elbow needed time to heal. Otherwise our trip to Erkki's went well. Fishing, picking lignonberries, and Melina and I rode our bikes about 100km from the train station in Haapamäki and back again. No one saw a bear, though they were muched discussed. Owen keeps doing the things one years do. He loves Matilda and is nearly always happy when she's home. Though Matilda's home time is pretty light, since she's always out with her friends. There are several girls in our building about the same age. Melina has started classes again so we are on a tight schedule now. But everything looks like it will be a good fall. I've been disappointed it's so dry this year. I'm all ready to go mushroom picking and the mushrooms are no where to be found. Mom will be back here on Sunday. I hope the others join soon.
